Boarding on the State - Ebook
£0.00

England's boarding schools educate boys and girls in all their rich variety. They have to help them to do their best in exams, in music and in sport. They strive to protect them from bullying, from their experiments with alcohol and drugs and to manage their preoccupation with sex. They also have to work with the full range of parents, from the totally supportive to the very difficult. Most such schools in England are Independent but there are about forty State schools which have boarders. The number of such schools is growing again for the first time in fifty years. They are successful and popular with parents. Ofsted rates many of them as 'outstanding'. These state schools share many of the attractive features of good independent boarding schools with the obvious difference that none of them charge fees for teaching and learning. This book is one version of their story.

John Haden has served as the Head of two such State Boarding Schools and as Chariman of both the boarding School's Association and the State Boarding Schools' Association, both of which celebrate siginificant anniversaries this year.
